The walls were all swirly and swoopy and swooshy. It was partly cloudy but the lighting inside was good. I never tire of the ever changing dynamics in the canyon as the sunlight moves through the formations. I’ve been in slot canyons before but none so beautiful. I have been on the Dixie Ellis tour 4 times to Lower Antelope Canyon when friends are in the area and want something spectacular to do. And the canyon is VERY narrow in some parts. The canyon is very steep and there are stairs into and out of the canyon so you have to be somewhat physically capable. The tour moves pretty fast so you have to be quick on the draw but it’s almost impossible to get a bad shot. And he’s a very talented photographer and pointed out the best angles. Speaking of the tour guide, he was hilarious. We were lucky enough to be in a group with six, plus the tour guide. We went with Ken’s Tours because they start their tours an hour before Dixie Ellis’ Tours, so there are less people in the canyon if you go with the early tour.ĭefinitely call and get a reservation. There are two tour groups (as of 2015) who operate out of the lower canyon. Instead, go to the Lower Canyon! It’s cheaper and there are fewer people.
But because it is so popular, a tour costs a lot of money and the crowds can be bad. When people talk about Antelope Canyon, they are mostly referring to the Upper Canyon.
